Sachin Tendulkar shares why MS Dhoni never used to sit next to him in his early days

Some incidents have been recalled by Sachin Tendulkar about MS Dhoni, the former Indian captain when he was new in the team. Sachin recalled the day when he saw Dhoni for the first time and also explained why he recommended his name for captaincy in 2007.

A First Impression

He first saw Dhoni during the Bangladesh tour in 2003-04, Sachin recalled.

“I saw him for the first time in Bangladesh. He ended up playing one or two shots in a match. The kind of sound I heard from his bat, I immediately turned towards Sourav (Ganguly) who was baiting me and said: “The sound of the bat, dada is something different.” When he hits the ball, there is something different. “Big hitters have this trait and when they add it, it’s going to go farther than you would think, but it’s going to go 10 yards. He said I saw that quality in his batting.

A shy MS Dhoni

Sachin remembered an incident when for the first time he came to know why MS Dhoni never sat next to him in the plane.

“Some players told me, Sachin said laughing, that their seat is next to them on the flight most of the time but they will swap it with other players.”

Later we started sitting next to each other. I didn’t know that he was so shy and used to change his seat because of this.
