Rohit Sharma explains the reason behind his ‘koi garden mai nahi ghumega ‘ comment: ‘that’s how I am . It’s not to hurt anyone

Indian captain Rohit Sharma delivered several stump-mic gems during the India-England Test series. The phrase gained more attention when Sharma posted a picture on Instagram with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel and Shubman Gill captioned in the same line.

The Indian captain finally started breaking down the idea behind this. The idea was to make sure all the players are quick on their feet and get the job done, suggested Rohit, while recalling the series that ended on the team Ro45 Instagram channel recently in a video.

Sometimes I say such things that are captured on the stump mic. But I am like that, that is who I am. This is not to offend anyone, it is just to make sure that they are on the job, making a difference on the field and that they are thinking about the team. And everyone is getting involved, I’m so happy to see that. That’s what I’m trying to tell them, no one will roam here brother. Just make sure that you don’t forget the job at hand,” said Rohit.

Elaborating on what led to the decline in his behaviour on the pitch, Rohit said, “While talking, whether I am shouting at him, in a situation whether it is standing up to Sarfaraz, Jurel or I am saying Ho, ‘Isko aage badhao bhai, nikalke dikhao stumping ko’ (Take it forward, execute the stumping to the batsman)’.”
