NBA roundup: Thunder takes advantage of short-handed Mavericks

Wizards 119, Rockets 135

To its sixth win in seven games with visiting Houston,Jalen Green scored a season-high 37 points, leading Washington.

Green made 15 of 23 shots from the floor, grabbed eight rebounds and drilled five 3-pointers. He was the centrepiece of a balanced offensive attack, with six scorers getting double-doubles in points, including sophomore Fred VanVleet and rookie Amen Thompson (20 points, 10 rebounds, three steals), along with nine assists that added 27 points.

Washington was led by Jordan Poole with 25 points – including 13 in the third – while Deni Avdija added 24 points (on 10 of 13 shooting), three steals and five assists. 3 points scored by Kyle Kuzma.

Suns 112, Celtics 127

Jaylen Brown scored a game-high 37 points and made five 3-pointers to help Boston extend its winning streak to four games with the win against visiting Phoenix.

Jayson Tatum added 26 points for Boston, who shot 25 points on 3-50 from behind the arc. Al Horford hit six 3-pointers and finished with a season-high 24 points. The Celtics also got another nine points from Jrue Holiday with 10 assists.

The Suns got 22 points from Bradley Beal and 20 points from both Grayson Allen and Kevin Durant. Jusuf had 20 rebounds, the top single-game score for a Celtics opponent this season.

Bulls 111, Clippers 126

Kawhi Leonard led five players in double figures with 27 points and Paul George scored 28 points to lead Los Angeles to victory over Chicago.

Los Angeles hit 60% of shots compared to Chicago’s 47.7%. George led the offence with 11 of 12 attempts, including 6 of 7 from 3-point range. Leonard, questionable before the game after back spasms kept him out of the final of Tuesday’s loss against Minnesota, went 12 of 17 from three quarters.

DeMar DeRozan led Chicago with 21 points. Alex Caruso had 17 points and Nikola Vucevic was second with 19, including five treys. Andre Drummond contributed seven rebounds and 15 points.
