Andre Russell Breaks Silence After Ex-KKR Star Calls Head Coach ‘Militant’

Andre Russell supported Kolkata Knight Riders’ head coach whose coaching was militant” by former David Wiese.

Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Chandrakant Pandit on Thursday was backed by senior all-rounder Andre Russell, whose coaching style at KKR was termed by former KKR all-rounder David Wiese as “militant”.

Now for the Namibians who ply their trade. He claimed that many foreign players were disappointed with Pandit’s tough work style in last year’s KKR roster during the IPL.

Jamaican Russell, though an integral part of KKR’s core group, had a different opinion. “We have been working with them since last year. For the first time with a coach, I think when you’re working, you have to make sure that you align with their philosophy.

There must be rules, we don’t complain because. We are professionals. ”said Russell during the pre-match press meet.

I try to do the best I can for the franchise. We are also coming back and he is doing amazing work. He’s very strict, very disciplined about things like that.

“In franchise cricket, when you have foreign players sometimes. For those who have played all over the world, there is no need for anyone to come and tell them what to wear, how to behave, and what to do.

“So it was tough,” Wiese said recently on the podcast ‘Hitman for Hire: A Year in the Life of a Franchise Cricketer’.

Vintage Dre Russ was back

His eyes are fixed on Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and now Russell is in his rhythm. He has had success against many. After giving away only seven runs in his first two overs, Bhuvneshwar scored his 44 runs in the last two overs.

34 runs in nine balls while only coming from Russell’s bat. During this 20-ball massacre against SRH, Russell also completed his maiden IPL half-century. By scoring 85 runs in overs, KKR scored more than the last five competitive scores.

“That’s why he (Russell) is paid big money around the world and in the IPL. He’s a six-hitting machine,” Tom Moody, the former SRH head coach, told ESPNcricinfo at a timeout. The thing is that his mishits go for six with Andre Russell.

Mishits are caused by most players getting stuck at the boundary or within five meters. That’s the X-factor but what he brings to the table.  If by 120 meters he really keeps it in the middle, it goes into the second tier.”

“The toughest job in cricket is to bowl to someone like that at the end,” he said after the game. He’s a tough guy to bowl to, but he’s tough to stop.”

After the masterclass, Russell was not interested in his batting game. Before defeating Abdul Samad, he dismissed opener Abhishek Sharma with a sharp bouncer in the 17th over. Ended a special night with 2 wickets for 25 runs.
